Government Rebates - Small-scale Technology Certificates - STCs
All households in Australia are eligible for Rebates when installing a solar hot water system.
Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are part of a federal government program called the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES). STCs have been created to give you a financial incentive to install installations such as solar water heaters, heat pumps or solar panels in your home or business.
One small-scale certificate is generally equivalent to the output of 1MWh of renewable energy.
The financial value of a STC is dependent on supply and demand. As a result the value can vary from day to day. The day the certificates are received (or system installed), is the day we lock the price in.
No. of STCs x STC Value = STC Rebate $
When an eligible technology (solar hot water system) is installed, STCs can be created either by the system owner or by the installer (as a point of sale discount). It is important to remember that the STCs you receive have no worth unless you choose to sell them.
